Tauck Adds New Rhône Cruises for 2028

Tauck Rhône cruises are expanding in 2028, with a new riverboat and three new itineraries offering more ways to explore southern France.

The new ms Harmonie will join the ms Lumière on the Rhône, doubling Tauck’s guest capacity on the river. The new journeys range from six to 14 days and include options for exploring Roman history, regional food and wine, and the landscapes of Provence and Burgundy. Tauck’s 2028 European river cruise collection is now open for booking.

Three New Ways to Cruise the Rhône

Essence of the Rhône is a six-day, five-night cruise between Lyon and Arles aboard ms Harmonie. The one-way itinerary is offered in both directions, with visits that include Lyon, Viviers and Arles, the city associated with Vincent van Gogh. Tauck describes this as a shorter introduction to southern France, with spring and fall departures.

A Week On… the Rhône is an eight-day journey with a five-night cruise aboard ms Lumière. Highlights include Avignon’s Palais des Papes, a visit to a family ranch in the Camargue, and a choice of a hands-on chocolate experience at Valrhona or a rail-bike excursion near Tain-l’Hermitage.

Barcelona, Burgundy & the Rhône combines Barcelona with a nine-night cruise along the Rhône and Saône. The itinerary includes five wine regions, with opportunities to explore Burgundy, Beaune, Lyon and Provence. Tauck lists the journey as 13 days on its itinerary page.

Like Tauck’s other European river cruises, the 2028 collection includes shore excursions, gratuities, onboard beverages, airport transfers, luggage handling, taxes and fees.

Why We Keep Returning to the Rhône

Carol and I have sailed the Rhône three times, and we would gleefully do it again. If you love wine, enjoy wonderful food, and want to understand why artists such as Van Gogh were drawn to the south of France, a Rhône cruise deserves a place on your list.

The river connects a rich mix of experiences: historic cities, Roman sites, local markets, vineyards, and the sunlit landscapes of Provence. We recommend avoiding the hottest and busiest summer months. Spring and fall are excellent times to enjoy the Rhône.
