Explora Journeys Unveils Explora III
Explora Journeys has officially unveiled Explora III, the newest ship in its luxury fleet and the third vessel in the brand’s growing collection of ultra-elegant ocean ships.
Launching ahead of schedule in July 2026, Explora III represents the next step in Explora Journeys’ vision — refining space, design, wellness, and onboard living in ways that matter most to today’s luxury travelers.
Rather than reinventing the concept introduced with Explora I and II, Explora III builds on what worked exceptionally well, offering more room, more choice, and a stronger sense of “home at sea” for guests who value calm, privacy, and intentionally paced luxury.
Debuting Early With a Mediterranean Prelude
Explora III will debut with an exclusive Mediterranean Prelude Journey from July 24–29, 2026, sailing from Genoa to Civitavecchia along the French and Italian Rivieras. This limited pre-inaugural voyage gives a select number of guests the first opportunity to experience the ship’s new design features, culinary concepts, and reimagined wellness offerings.
The ship will be officially named in Barcelona on August 1, 2026, at the Cruise Division’s new terminal, before beginning her Maiden Voyage to Lisbon on August 3. Later in 2026, Explora III expands beyond the Mediterranean with journeys to Northern Europe, Iceland, and Greenland.
More Space Without More Crowds
Space is a signature of the Explora Journeys approach — and Explora III pushes that advantage further. While she carries 463 suites (only two more than Explora I and II), the ship’s LNG capability allows for an additional 63 feet of length, translating into more usable space across the vessel.
The result is one of the ship’s most compelling differentiators: approximately 210 square feet of public space per guest, expanded open-air decks, and a nearly one-to-one host-to-guest ratio. In practical terms, Explora III is designed to feel generous, unhurried, and uncrowded, even at full occupancy.
A More Refined Heart of the Ship
Explora III’s lobby has been re-envisioned as a sculptural, double-height atrium that balances drama with warmth. The lobby bar anchors the space as the ship’s social center — a place designed to be used throughout the day, from morning pauses to pre-dinner gatherings and late-evening cocktails accompanied by live music.
This reinforces Explora Journeys’ floating-hotel identity: spaces meant to be lived in, not simply passed through.
Enhanced Pool and Deck Living
Outdoor living receives a noticeable upgrade aboard Explora III, with more deck comfort, expanded shaded areas, and additional private cabanas.
The Conservatory Pool & Bar on Deck 11 becomes an all-weather retreat centered around a 48-foot-long pool beneath a retractable glass roof. By evening, the space transforms into a relaxed venue for silent cinema under the stars.
Elsewhere onboard, guests will find:
- Three outdoor heated pools, including an adults-only pool
- Five heated whirlpools, both indoor and outdoor
- 60 private cabanas and expanded shaded deck areas
More Penthouses, More Residences, and Two Owner’s Residences
Every accommodation aboard Explora III is oceanfront, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows and private terraces. The most significant change is a shift toward larger, more residential categories.
The ship offers:
- 313 Ocean Suites
- 109 Ocean Penthouses, now 24% of the inventory
- 39 Ocean Residences, now 9% of the inventory
Explora III also introduces two Owner’s Residences, each spanning approximately 3,000 square feet, including sweeping aft-facing terraces of roughly 1,350 square feet. One residence, designed by Patricia Urquiola, includes a private steam room and outdoor whirlpool — setting a new benchmark for ultra-exclusive living at sea.
New Culinary Experiences Join Familiar Favorites
Explora III retains its core dining lineup — including Anthology, Sakura, Med Yacht Club, Fil Rouge, Emporium Marketplace, and Marble & Co. Grill — while adding three new venues that expand variety and pacing onboard.
New highlights include Shore Club on 11, offering refined poolside dining; The Chef’s Table by Explora Journeys, an intimate, story-driven experience with live preparation; and The Cellar by Explora Journeys, a wine-focused venue centered on discovery and guided tastings.
Twelve bars and lounges round out the experience, including a Malt Whisky Bar paired with a new Outdoor Cigar Lounge.
Ocean Wellness, More Fully Integrated
Wellness aboard Explora III has been consolidated into a single zone on Deck 5, bringing spa and fitness facilities together for a more seamless experience.
Highlights include new signature spa treatments, the Sava Sound Pod for restorative audio therapy, upgraded Technogym fitness and Pilates equipment, an expanded sports court, and a longer open-air running track with ocean views. Wellness here feels embedded into daily life onboard, rather than set apart.
Retail, Art, and Curated Discovery at Sea
Explora III continues the brand’s curated retail approach with the return of Cartier and the debut of Chopard onboard. These are complemented by “The Journey” boutique concept, featuring more than 30 artisanal brands, as well as an exclusive Explora Journeys jewelry collection. Art remains central to the guest experience through rotating exhibitions curated in partnership with Clarendon Fine Art, allowing the ship to function as both a luxury retreat and an evolving gallery.
A Confident Step Forward for Explora Journeys
Explora III represents a clear evolution for the brand: more space without adding crowds, a more residential suite mix, expanded wellness, new culinary depth, and a second Owner’s Residence — all supported by LNG technology and future-ready design.
For travelers drawn to modern luxury that feels closer to a refined seaside hotel than a traditional cruise ship, Explora III is shaping up to be one of the most compelling new launches of 2026.
Spotlight Journey: Hamburg, Germany to New York City
This remarkable transatlantic journey aboard Explora III blends the romance of an ocean crossing with a rare lineup of destinations, sailing from Hamburg to New York City via the United Kingdom, Ireland, Iceland, Greenland, and Canada.
Along the way, guests experience dramatic coastlines, storied ports, and some of the North Atlantic’s most captivating landscapes — from charming British and Irish harbors to Iceland’s volcanic beauty and Greenland’s remote, ice-carved shores.
The voyage concludes in eastern Canada during the height of fall foliage season before continuing on to iconic New York City, offering a satisfying sense of progression from Europe’s edge to North America’s doorstep.
It’s a thoughtfully designed journey that balances exploration with ample time at sea to fully enjoy Explora III’s calm, spacious, and deeply comfortable onboard experience.
