Detroit is famed for its spectacular architecture. A smorgasbord of styles, visitors can enjoy everything from classic 19th-century architecture to ground-breaking modern structures. A walking tour is a fantastic way to discover the diversity and variety of architectural styles and visit incredible buildings.
Meander through the city streets, taking in amazing examples of Art Deco, Beaux Arts and postmodern architecture. Highlights include the Guardian Building, the Penobscot Building, Hart Plaza, the Fisher Building, the David Stott Building, Book Tower and the David Whitney Building. 

The nightlife



Detroit has something for everyone when it comes to entertainment after dark. Known as the birthplace of Motown, it’s no surprise that live music is a staple of tourist itineraries. You’ll find concerts, gigs, shows and tribute acts aplenty.
Check out the city’s larger venues, as well as smaller, more intimate spots to catch local groups and emerging artists. For those keen to try their luck in the Motor City, Hollywood Casino at Greektown is a lively base for a night out. As well as fast-paced action on the tables, visitors can dine, drink and enjoy live music.

There’s also a vibrant theater scene for fans of drama, with everything from family-friendly, classic musicals to gritty, modern pieces on offer. 

The museums

There are several reasons why Detroit is famous and this is reflected in the incredible array of museums and galleries. The clutch of museums celebrates Detroit’s trailblazer status in fields as diverse as music, art and automotive design. Examples include The Motown Museum, the Henry Ford Museum, the Detroit Historical Museum and the Detroit Institute of Arts. 

The sports

Sports fans will not be disappointed if they choose Detroit as their next vacation spot. Bursting at the seams with venues and boasting packed schedules, there’s always something going on.

The main teams include the Detroit Lions, the Detroit Tigers, the Detroit Pistons and the Detroit Red Wings. If you’re keen to get in on the action at Ford Field or Little Caesars Arena while you’re visiting, check the NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL schedules as early as possible as tickets sell out quickly. 

The US boasts a seemingly endless list of fascinating, vibrant cities to explore, but tourists often flock to the most popular and well-known metropolises.
