Wow the blog has been suffering slightly but the “gram” sure hasn’r. My recent Vacation with Southern Comfort Cabin Rentals was truly Instagram worthy, AKA picturesque and over-the-top shareable.
If you have been following me ( now is your chance if you are not) you would have noticed Kent and I had a pretty significant and lengthy roadtrip, 10,138 KM’s but who was counting lol. All joking aside thanks to Southern Comfort Cabin Rentals we got to experience several days in Blue Ridge Georgia and stay in one of their luxurious Cabins.
Today I kick off my Blue Ridge Series with an introduction to Southern Comfort Cabin Rentals and our Sunset in the Mountains Cabin. Living up to it’s name the Sunsets were spectacular. This cabin greets you with a wraparound deck and majestic views from every direction. We truly were able to leave our stress behind and indulge in all that the mountains of Blue Ridge had to offer.

Sunset in the Mountains Cabin Travel
17 hr 23 min or 1,783.2 km (1108 miles) that is the distance from my home to Sunset in the Mountains, and let me tell you it was worth it. And ironically we had a few unexpected life happenings that had us add an additional 1461 kms taking us in a different direction. We left from Thunder Bay instead of Ottawa so 2114 kms and 21 hours was our unplanned route.
On a positive note it meant we pretty much did the Circle Tour around Lake Superior, adding another interesting aspect to the trip. Thunder Bay to Blue Ridge was a two day drive but I got to also mark Wisconsin and Illinois off my USA states list. ( I had already hit Minny and we skipped Indiana taking a slightly different trek.)
After one province, six states and way too many miles (km’s) on our vehicle we pulled up to the cabin. What a welcoming sight, it was close to dinner time so the sun was high, the mountains were in full view. Normally a water person I have to confess the beauty of the mountains and surrounding scenery has me re-thinking preferences.
Kent wanted to quickly unpack the car but in true Linda fashion I needed a video tour first. I wanted to see the Cabin in all her glory. So with that let me take you on a whirlwind tour of Sunset in the Mountains, my choice of places to stay last week.
Let’s Tour the Cabin- Sunset in the Mountains
Full disclosure selecting a cabin was not an easy task. Southern Comfort Cabin Rentals offers almost 200 vacation properties in the Blue Ridge area. Truly there is something for every need and budget, including mountain views, lake views, creek and river views, luxury cabins, forest homes, wheelchair accessible accommodations, downtown Blue Ridge locations, pet friendly, hot tub, accommodations for large groups and private pool homes.
Given the list of possibilities for our stay, I confess I spent days looking at cabins. In the end I selected a mountain view cabin that was pet friendly, with a hot tub and a games room. As a bonus it was minutes from town so we were able to explore easily. We did make an effort to be back to the cabin well before dark because the roads are a tad twisty and narrow. The pet friendly was important because we were planning on bringing Lou but again with the added 1400 km’s we left her with Family, next time we will bring her though.
This cabin greets you with a wraparound deck and majestic views from every direction. One can leave your stresses behind and indulge in all that the mountains of Blue Ridge have to offer you.
The Cabin
Walking in the front door, you are immediately struck with a welcoming feeling, a large open floor plan design, featuring a cascading river stone gas burning fireplace with comfortable seating, and floor to ceiling windows. The simplicity of the decor of the living room coupled with the small cozy details lingers in your mind as you wander into the oversized sunroom. One of my fav places, featuring several tables and a comfy couch for mountain gazing. The perfect place any time of day to enjoy the views with a book, cup of coffee, or just some good company.
For those more inclined to relax in front of the television and have a few rousing games , the lower- level will suit your liking perfectly. A gas burning fireplace to take the chill off and a TV to watch your favorite shows on, you will be spending your evenings quite content. For the those of us that love a bit of competition there is an arcade, shuffleboard, and card table in the adjoining room. Kent and I challenged each other every night lol.
Stepping outside for a moment or two one will be tempted to stay outside for the rest of their vacation. Spectacular mountain views, with two gas fire pit tables for outdoor eating or lounging. Looking to enjoy the outdoors with a luxury twist? Soak in the inviting warmth that the hot tub offers, day or night relax your mind and body as you gaze on the sights of nature.
Floor Plan and Details
The main level of the cabin has two king size bedrooms and two bathrooms in addition to the open concept living area. Beautifully decorated, each room is welcoming, full of light and affording you lots of privacy.
The lower level had two additional bedrooms, family room and games room as well as an additional bathroom. One can also access the lower deck featuring the hot tub, a covered seating area and a second fire table.
As an FYI all bathrooms contain complimentary toiletries and have a blow dryer available. There was a full size washer and dryer on the lower level and every comfort one could expect and/or need.
Bonus features included a folding crib and child gate as well as bed and dishes for your furry friend.
