While I always thought I was a summer gal, the thoughts of Fall decorating has always excited me. The warm shades of the season bringing thoughts of cozy evenings, warm fires and of course Pumpkin Spice everything.

Like Christmas my home gets decorated in stages and every room takes on its own theme. The traditional shades of fall with oranges, reds and warm hues of gold play a part but so do the non traditional pinks and teals.

Before we get to my actual mantles lets explore how one can create their own personal mantle from items found around the home and yard.

How do I decorate my fall mantel

AS I mentioned discovering how to create a mantle and gaining the confidence to put items together is the first step. And trust me your vision will keep growing along with your confidence each season.

Key items that can help turn your mantle into a showpiece:

  • Lanterns: you can use lanterns filled with candles to create an inviting ambiance.
  • Baskets: Fill baskets with apples, pinecones, or mini pumpkins or other fall harvest items
  • Autumn Wreaths: Welcome your guests with a stunning fall wreath adorned with colorful leaves, pumpkins, or pinecones.
  • Seasonal Garlands: Drape your mantel with garlands made from faux leaves, pumpkins, acorns, eucalyptus leaves, or berries for an instant touch of fall.
  • Candle Holders: Add a warm, flickering glow with candle holders and candles, maybe battery operated. Use warm wood or ceramic holders or maybe brass.
  • Pumpkins and Gourds: Display a variety of pumpkins and gourds in different shapes, sizes, and colors for an authentic fall feel.
  • Fall Foliage: Incorporate branches of vibrant fall foliage
  • Framed Artwork or a mirror: Hang fall-themed prints or artwork that capture the beauty of the season.
  • Seasonal Signage: Incorporate wooden or chalk signs with autumnal quotes or greetings for a charming touch.
  • Seasonal Florals: Arrange bouquets of sunflowers, dahlias, or chrysanthemums in vases or rustic containers.
  • Miniature Hay Bales: Create a rustic vibe with miniature hay bales or straw accents.
  • String Lights: Add a magical glow with string lights woven along your mantel.

With these elements in mind, you’re ready to transform your mantel into a captivating focal point for your fall decor.

Vision in Pink Fall Mantle

My living room is always shades of pinks, creams and burgundy’s. While not a traditional Fall colour, it does bring me joy. For 2023, I kept it simple.

Pink pumpkins are the focal point of course, accentuated with a pink leave garland and apink lantern I found at IKEA years ago. My metal trio of pumpkins were originally garden spikes from Dollar Tree and a bright yellow. Its amazing what spray paint can do.

My large pumkins have been used all through the house, creating a fun dining table, used on the front porch and now as a new mantle display. The others are all different comfy textures adding a cozy vibe.

Autumn Shades for a Fall Mantle and Wreath

Pumpkins and sunflowers will never steer you wrong for Autumn. Orange, cream and gold pumpkins staggered on candlestick holders create a fun visual effect. Add in a few ghourds and sunflowr pics and an inviting “scape” awaits. Although I will mention Kent may hate when a create a visual mantlescape on the fireplace because it makes having a fire more complicated.

A sunflower garland and a beautiful Fall wreath complete the look.

Teal and Orange Mantle

My final mantle combines the traditional and modern in it’s colour scheme. Shades of teal and orange create such a striking combination.

This mantle uses my oil lanterns that my grandmother owned as a centrepiece. Teal and green Pumpkins create a visual effect on one side while a tin basket filled with velvet pumkins and fall foliage pics balances the other side.

Pulling it altogether is a fall foliage garland and a felt colourful garland. Two fun pictures add a whimsical touch. Check out how to create my pumpkin patch sign, it made the perfect accent piece for this mantle.

Three completely different mantle styles but all evoking thought of cozy Fall days sitting by the fire. Do you pull out all the tops for Fall decorating? Traditionalist, modernist or maybe a minimalist? What if your current style.
