Setting the Table for St Patrick’s Day

My table always starts with the tablecloth, OK not always but often lol.  For me the tablecloth is truly the canvas that sets the picture.  If you recall I purchased a new checked set in 2021, well both the tablecloth and napkins are still perfect for my 2023 “scape”.

Next up was chargers, white or green chargers that was this years tough choice. I did try both butthere was something about the green that just seemed to work

Using my round white dish set allowed a little creativity for the rest of the table. A plain plate allows a fancy napkin, at least in my world.. Julliard silverware formed the basics of the tablescape.

My Luck of the Irish Tablescape

I am ready to celebrate the Green and it’s not a “school night”, aka work is not calling, oops, work isn’t calling at all I a retired lol. We do have the boys arriving on the 18th for an Ottawa show so we are opting for a pared down celebration. Dinner and drinks will do just fine.

Sharing a few Irish cocktails, sitting at a most awesome table and eating whatever Kent decides to cook lol.

Let’s make it Green

Now that our canvas is all set, it is time to make it stand out,  How to create the perfect St Patrick’s Day table.  I always start with the center and work out.  Starting with some fun flowers. 2023 I opted to create my own fun centrepiece. Using the old glass in a vase trick, I filled the outside rim with green and gold coins. I shared the how to on my insta account. Adding some fun carnations and I was done. Easy peasy.

Candle sticks and wine bottle lights seemed the perfect addition. Next up a sprinkling of leprechan coins I found at the dollarstore.  I oped for plain white knife rests so as to not distract from my unique chargers.

Pots of Gold for St Patrick’s Day Table

Each place setting had wine glass I later remembered to add a few beer glasses, I mean hello Guiness.  I ordered a few leprechaun pots for each place setting, filling them a green shamrock that I used for the name cards.

I also added a few glitter pots filled with gold coins as a fun addition.  No practical value at all but who needs practical on this special day.

And the Leprechaun Napkins

And then we have the napkin. Searching for something different this year I was stumped. Originally I figured I would go with my Lily napkin in green plaid.  As soon as I recreated the fold it made me think of a little Leprechaun. Adding a fun hat and a shamrock and I have a new napkin fold.

Am I crazy or does it look like a little person??

Interested in the fold it is pretty basic.

  1. Fold a square napkin into a triangle
  2. take the two points and fold the napkin into a diamond shape
  3. fold the end without the two points over about a third of the way
  4. turn napkin over
  5. fold the two sides together and create a tuck
  6. stand napkin upright
  7. fold down the two sides
  8. add your hat or decoration
