Truth be told I have been a fan of Shein since I started blogging and that was a few years ago. But the most asked question I get, is Shein really appropriate for middle age women? AKA Can a woman over 50 really wear this stuff??
Is a Shein Dress really something you can wear in public? Well sticking to the facts here I own several and I am middle age, midsize and leaning on the apple shape side. And most important I like their dresses and they make me feel good.
Shein Olive Jersey Dress
Lets start with todays fun look. I found this fun long t-Dress on the Shein site and was fairly impressed. Colour looked great, style was fun and it suited me.
Now, here is the BUT, I was also confident that I did not look like the model so should I really press order. The one tip I always tell everyone is look closely at the size chart and then size up. Shein is not for the faint of heart who worry about label size. I am not a small, nor a medium heck most times not even a large. I most often order the XL and sometimes even go to the plus size.
Shocking fact, 20 year old me would never have done that. If I couln’t fit the smallest size I would not purchase. Size mattered in so many bad ways in the 80’s and 90’s. Bottom line I pressed purchased and I was not disappointed. In fact I still own this two years later.
How to Style a T-Dress on a midsize body
I am very aware on my size and my age and thus may style a dress differently than a 20 or 30 year old. The undergarments matter as do the footwear.
I don’t wear shapeware but I do wear a good bra and always wear bike shorts ( I hate thighs touching). Add in a fun pair of converse and a coordinating sweater for air conditioning or a change in weather and I have an ” age appropriate look”
Now please don’t be fooled by “age appropriate”. I am not a fan of age determining what I wear but I do try to my cognizant of styles, materials and textures. My style is ruled by what makes me feel good, not what your rules tell you.
Is is Shein Dresses or T Dresses that are the issue
Elephant in the room time, I guess when discussing shein, t-dresses and my age the main issue is it Shein or the Dress? Many people have had issues with Shein and their “Fast Fashion”concept but for me it is an option of affordable cute styles that may not be ” classic”.
I don’t want to invest a lot of money in a trend that may or may not be around next week, month or year. Therefore Shein offers an affordable option. Now if it’s the style at issue than there is not much I can do about that. This Midage/midsize woman will wear what she thinks looks and feels good.
Don’t be afriad to try it out but do approach cautiously. Size charts matter and with Shein I find go up rather than down. Better to have it a tad large than a ton small right?

My Shein Dress and Look of the Day
Today I paired the Shein Dress with a fun pair of leather converse. They have become my go to shoe for comfort and style. The olive leather shoe pairs nicely with the dress creating a casual vibe that will take me shopping, to coffee with the gals or for a casual work day at home.
Addining a white linen cardigan just in case the air conditioning gets too chilly.
