We have been fortunate enough to experience this beautiful Island three times over the past year. So trust me, I feel like I may actually be an expert on the beauty of the Island.
What activities are available at MSC Ocean Cay Marine Reserve?
MSC Ocean Cay Marine Reserve is truly a playground for outdoor enthusiasts, boasting a diverse range of activities to suit all ages and interests. For those seeking aquatic adventures, snorkeling and scuba diving excursions provide a glimpse into the vibrant underwater world teeming with colorful marine life.
Glide across the azure waters on a kayak or paddle board, or embark on a thrilling jet ski ride for an awesome experience.
For those looking for a relaxing beach day, there are plenty of loungers and seating areas. The Island is still new so shade is at a premium. Umbrellas are also available for a nominal fee is you choose. Plus there are Cabanas available for full day rentals. We opted for the Cabana option as we were a full day at the beach.
All cabanas take a maximum of six guests and you can come and go throughout the day. You’ll be welcomed with fresh water, towels and two floaties.
The Food and Drink options on MSC Ocean Cay?
Indulge your taste buds in the culinary delights offered at MSC Ocean Cay. From beachside BBQs to gourmet dining experiences, there’s something to satisfy every craving.
Seakers Food Court
Seakers Food Court is complimentary & includes American classics, Caribbean cuisine & an array of choices for kids. The buffet can be busy, but schedule your meals accordingly. Don’t head to the buffet at noon and not expect a crowd.
Food Trucks
Don’t feel like going to the buffet? Grab a quick bite at one of the food trucks located throughout the island or a drink at one of their many beach bars. The food trucks all offer burgers, fries, a pasta salad and brownie.
Lighthouse Bar
At 100 feet tall, the red and white lighthouse is a striking landmark. Enjoy drinks and food with live music and DJs and an evening visual experience that will enhance the atmosphere.
The Smiling Fish Bar & Coffee Bar
This venue offers for an additional fee many flavours of ice cream, from classics to more innovative flavours with a Bahamian twist. I have heard the fish cone is a fun experience.
The Coffee Bar offers freshly brewed whole bean and ground coffee, espresso and cappucciono for an energetic start to your day.
Beach Bars
There are multiple beach bars spread across the island with a wide choice of beverage options, each with its own personality and its own special look and feel.
One caution, when we were on the MSC Divina not all the beach bars were open, but when the Seascape was in port all locations were fully operational.
One bonus of MSC Ocean Cay, all food and drink are already included in your package as well as wife if applicable. Such a treat compared to so many of the other Islands where your drink package is not extended to the Island stay.
Amenities and facilities can guests access while on the Island?
Guests are treated to an array of amenities and facilities designed to enhance their island experience. Lounge in the sun on pristine beaches equipped with comfortable loungers and umbrellas, or take a dip in the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean Sea.
There are eight beaches at Ocean Cay, including one that is solely set aside for crew members. There are no pools on Ocean Cay
Explore the island on scenic walking trails, or rejuvenate your senses with a relaxing massage at the beachside spa.
MSC Cruises designed Ocean Cay so the ships could stay late into the night. The Lighthouse has LED capabilities and on the evenings when the ship stays past sunset, there’s a lovely light show that goes for about an hour.
What are the operating hours for facilities and services on MSC Ocean Cay?
Facility operating hours may vary, but most amenities are available throughout the day to accommodate guests’ needs and preferences.
Most of the food and drink venues begin closing between 3:30 and 5:00. Springer’s Bar, located closest to the ship remains open a bit later.

We went on the Lighthouse tour and it is so much more than just climbing the Lighthouse, although that was spectacular. MSC provides a guided tour. You will learn about the history of the Island, discovery what MSC has done for the coral reefs and wildlife and possibly get an insight into the future possibilities.
Rules or guidelines guests need to follow while on the island?

Luckily, the MSC Ships can dock on the Island so there is no tendering process. One small caution in the event of inclement weather or seas, the ships may not be able to enter the port.

We also noticed a bank of wheelchairs with wheels designed to handle sand.
During our last cruise we had heard that one of the other ships was unable to dock. There is a very narrow channel leading to the Island, For the safety of the coral reefs MSC is cautious.

Please note guests also cannot bring any food or drinks from the Island on to the ship. And yes your bags will be checked. Take advantage of the Towel bins as well and leave the damp towel behind.
Guests are also asked to use ” Coral Reef” friendly sunscreens to help with the conservation efforts.
